Data is a real challenge facing most companies and organisations. This data has to be stored, copied, backed up, archived and deleted. Storing and managing it is half the story though, it has to be cleanesed, analysed and put to good use.Data is the 21st century's oil. My blog's will present my view on it. Please take it as it is, a point of view.

About me

Hello,

My name's Majd, I I have worked on databases and middleware applications for most of my career. Mostly with Oracle (database, OAS, Fusion Middleware); open source (tomcat, mysql), and some SQL Server technologies. I’ve also acquired experience within Linux, UNIX and virtualization environments. My main area of expertise is with High Availability and Disaster Recovery solutions.

I’ve undertaken many different roles over time. For example, I have advised, implemented and migrated as a consultant; taken good care of critical databases as a production DBA; given technical training as a trainer and helped a team as a technical referee. I have also advised customers as a Solutions Architect and worked extensively in a sales/pre-sales capacity. Finally, I’ve recruited and managed a team.

Data is my new professional hobby. I am looking into all things related to data. From the traditional ETL, analytics and BI to big data, hadoop and mapreduce. I'm equally looking into all the latest integrated systems platforms like Exadata, Netezza, Greenplum, and so on ... .
